Oggy grew up in poverty in communist Bulgaria, came to this country as an asylum seeker in 1986, and became one of the BBC’s most respected foreign journalists.
His memoir, Simpson & I: Between Two Worlds, paints a ‘warts and all’ insight into the sometimes turbulent relationship between Oggy and the BBC’s World’s Affairs Editor John Simpson, who he produced. He has travelled the world, reporting and producing news reports from many of the war zones of recent times.
The book also provides fascinating insights into the world of international journalism during his career spanning 25 years and reporting from over 40 countries, many times undercover.
