We are proud to share the first official event of Frinton Literary Festival 2023 with you all.
As well as bringing some of the biggest names in books to Frinton, we wanted to make sure that we were shining a spotlight on the talent in our local area.
We know that, across Tendring and beyond, there are writers scribbling into their notebooks,
making hurried notes on their phones, or recording their next idea (usually before they finish their currrent WIP…!).
That’s why, for our 21 st year, we’re hosting a Spoken Word Night to launch the Frinton Literary Festival.
On Wednesday 25th October 2023 we will be at Walton & Frinton Yacht Club – doors open at 6:30 for readings starting at 7pm – to celebrate the storytellers, performers, and spoken word artists around us.
We’d like to encourage local writers – of prose, poetry, and everything in between – to sign up for a slot and share their work at this free event.
Frinton Literary Festival Committee member and author of Beach Hut People, Nancy Stevenson, is spearheading this year’s kick-off event. She said: "There are so many talented writers in our local area. Here is an opportunity for us to get together, share, listen, enjoy and celebrate our vibrant writing community."
Performance spaces will be limited and we would ask anyone interested in taking part to email
writeretreatuk@gmail.com with a brief overview of your work (e.g. poetry, flash fiction) and a short biography.
Bring all of your friends and loved ones to cheer you on so that we can ensure a positive,
encouraging and creative space for all. You are welcome to sell the works from which you have read on the night, and there will be full bar facilities.
