More dates and more stars have been added to Frinton Literary Festival’s October programme with opportunities to hear actors Celie Imrie and Greta Scacchi talking about their careers and crime writer Peter Guttridge leading the crime writing masterclass.
Afternoon tea with Celia Imrie sold out within days so she has added a morning session in discussion with fellow actor Fidelis Morgan about their work together creating Celia’s previous historical novel, Orphans of the Storm, a sweeping, epic tale told against the backdrop of the sinking of the Titanic. People attending the event will receive a copy of either Orphans of the Storm or Meet me at Rainbow Corner. Part of the ticket price will be a donation to the actors’ charity Acting for Others.
Greta Scacchi, award-winning actress in film, television and theatre, talks and answers questions from the audience about her experiences of working on literary adaptations such as Heat & Dust, Presumed Innocent, The Player, Emma, Brideshead Revisited, Miss Marple, Poirot and War & Peace. This special evening on Monday, October 20, will not only offer the chance to hear behind-the-scenes stories and career highlights from this highly accomplished performer, but also bring insight into just how a story makes its way from page to stage and screen.
The crime writing masterclass at Walton and Frinton Yacht Club on Sunday, October 19, will be led by Peter Guttridge, author of over 20 crime stories, including, in his Brighton Series, City of Dreadful Night and most recently Butcher's Wood, as well as a crime series featuring hapless journalist Nick Madrid plus two standalone thrillers, The Labyrinth of Porsena and The Boogaloo Twist. His extensive experience also includes his time as the Observer’s crime fiction critic for 12 years.
